I get the impression that management is quietly, very quietly, getting its pieces in place before making big announcements.

i tend to agree with you on some points. once you start make money, then the analysts have something that they can value the stock price by. at that point, its not like gnet is going to make 60$ a share next year to justify its stock price. i have fealt for a long time that they should reinvest more money into marketing, bigger acquisitions than these "under 10 million" buys, etc... how about some more media ?

in the long term though, i still love what they are putting together. i just dont see the importance of making money right now. we should have free e-mail, real-time quots on s.i. is a must being that it is a paid subscription service. i would even think about buying a small brokerage service and linking it in with si so you could use this site as a one stop shop. do all your trading, stock talk, analysis, etc.. in one place. then spend tons to market the hell out of it. the increased revenues would send the price to the moon. my worry here is that others are spending more money and will leap frog us in revenues and losses, but catch up and pass us later on.

just some of today's thoughts.

What we need to see more from the GO2NET management is more PR - get in the news everyday if possible.

Everyday flak releases can become overwhelming and bury real news under the weight of puffery. It seems to me their PR strategy works just fine. And what about the real news? I continue to believe that the SI/Stocksite upgrade will have a good effect on the stock.

Just yesterday, I saw an offtopic comment on another thread that mentioned SI as a good IPO candidate. The poster was quickly told that it's already part of a public company. The significance, though, is that the original post came from someone who had paid for SI membership, but didn't know about Go2Net. I'm sure the upgrade will make the association obvious, just as it is already on StockSite.

Since it follows with TheStreet.com's recent IPO, an upgrade to this property will give reason for finance writers to mention SI's (and GNET's) prominent place in this competitive market for finance news, information, and "community".

<With all due respect to the technicians, some good news will destroy any of the charting rules.>

With all due respect, if good news were imminent, the stock would not be drifting lower on weak volume. Almost always there are indications at least a day or two in advance. When GNET starts to move higher on increasing volume, then likely something is afoot and it is safer to buy.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long.
