I wonder, though, whether there is on the American side of this divide the need still for an external enemy and Chinese fit the bill so well. And on the campaign finance thing - the indignation on Capitol Hill sweetly ignores the clandestine efforts of the US, through its agencies, to influence governments and in some cases topple them? D

No mystery here. The Chinese will now seek to use the embassy bombing incident to further alienate Taiwan, obtain US acquiecense for China's entry into WTO (without regard to human rights issues) and stop further investigation into Chinese espionage from our nuclear program. With all of Bubba's moral authority, I suspect they may be largely successful. Heck, a lot of Bubba's interests seem aligned with the Chicoms. JLA
