Duker,

AMAT coverage initiated by Hambrecht & Quist at Buy.

Also, Maria at about 6:25 am PDT said Lehman was upgrading AMAT, a week ahead of their earnings statement.

I think there is even a bit more room beyond $1.30. If you run some simple numbers, I think you'll agree. I took the numbers from the AMAT site.

(Q299)If AMAT meets the $1.03B revenue (Q1 reported sales) and improves gross margins and BLE to the average of Q199 & Q198 (Q199 = 43.2%GM,37.5% BLE and Q198 = 48% GM, 28% BLE), then I believe that the earnings will be 35-36 cents per share.

(Q399)Then if AMAT's B/B is 1.4 (as is rumored here on the board), with the same margins & BLE, the result is about 46-48 cents per share. Assuming no efficiency gains on the GM & BLE should be a conservative estimate.

(Q499)Then assume similar/flat results for Q499 : 46 - 48 cents per share.

FY99 = .11 + .35 + .47 + .47 = $1.4
