Datek also let one short a stock downtick, if one is stupid enough, or accidentally place a wrong order, to short at a day low price. A couple of months ago, I was intent to buy long in AMTD, but accidentally put a sell, and since I was using express order, so no confirmation. But as soon as I placed the order, I found out I made the mistake, so I tried to cancel, and thought I should be able to cancel it because it was at a downtick. But the order just went through in less a second. Of course, it was my own mistake not to be careful. But still this whole thing smelled fishy.
