David, my thoughts on a COMS merger are at: #reply-9173511. You might
also read the 3 responses. I feel that eventually 3COM will have to merge.
That day, however, may be days or years away. Benhamou seems set on
keeping his job rather than attending to the shareholder's interests.
Eventually the stock will advance, with or without a merger. The 100
day expansion of the 'Net, Internet2, voice and video, eCommerce, etc.
all dictate a higher stock price as soon as "a certain knucklehead"
gets his costs in line. Glad to hear you are enjoying your Cable Modem.
I may go that route myself next fall when I return to FL.

As soon as the average COMS investor can quote the names of the management team members leading 3Com, rather than just say Eric's name. You'll know they're getting their act together at the company. In the mean time 3Com will be looking for some niche where they won't have to go head to head with the competition. They will probably join more trade groups so they'll have more meeting to attend giving them a sense of worth. Some coming accomplishments will be to shorten the battery life of the Palm Pilot, and to allow the Palm Pilot to be Cloned...that will stifle the inventors of the Pilot in their new endeavor after having left COMS. I won't mention any of the cons.

Can you say Siemens?

BTW, I also have a cable modem setup. Cablevision started the service last Fall

David, what kind of transfer rates do you get when downloading files?
About the best I'm getting is 75-80kbps, seems like I should be doing better than that especially since the service is new in my area.
