Moonray - Thanks for the response. I must admit that IBM hadn't occurred to me, since I was only narrowly thinking of telecom/networking companies. OTOH, IBM seems to be moving away from the low margin "commodity" hardware products like PC boxes etc., so I can't see them being interested in the modem/NIC parts of 3-Com.

I guess time will tell. In the meantime, I am again sitting on a substantial COMS position acquired over the last few weeks. The last two times I did this, I got killed in major COMS downdrafts, first in the Fall of 1997, then again this February. If this third time is lucky, I'll finally come out ahead!
