I don't even know why she has it... but it is interesting to browse through when I get the urge.

My wife is half-Armenian, is fairly fluent in Russian and just loves to look up indo-European roots of various words... :0)

Btw, that Armenian side has made me particularly sensitive to what the Kosovars are currently enduring. You should hear the nasty words that go around at family gatherings when someone dares to mention Turkey. They hate it when I try to tell them that not all Turks are genocidal maniacs bent on their destruction. In fact, they hate it even more when I tell them that Turkey is quite a secular state similar to the US in that many of its citizens aren't even Turkish.

In fact, the other day I met a gentleman who was participating in the annual Turkish-American cooperation convention here in DC. We got to talking about Turkey and his history. It turned out that, although born in Turkey and a citizen, his heritage was Greek-Albanian (was I surprised!!??)

I left that conversation with a completely different perspective on the country and its people.

Regards,

Ron
