Ron - I just think its unreasonable to believe the Chinese think like Americans -

DD, people are people. They just want to be left alone and not harassed or persecuted for who or what they are. Most people don't want to violate someone else's civil rights. (and if they do, then I contend that I'm glad we don't think alike).

Regarding Letterman though.. Jay Leno made a quip last night about how the Pentagon should start delivering their bombs by FedX so they'll at least be delivered to the right address.

But let offer one opinion. The more the Chinese people try to accuse the US of intentionally bombing their embassy (when it is evident we had little to gain by doing so), the more US comedians will find a willing audience for sick humour like this. The US public will soon find itself sick of hearing from people who haven't the capacity to forgive or seek to demonize and harass Americans.

DD,

An attack on an embassy is not made better by another attack, and the Chinese government-sponsored demonstrations which wrecked the US embassy in Beijing is as much a violation of international law and a direct assault on US territory. The difference is that our bombing was a mistake, a stupid and embarrassing mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. The reaction to this incident has been irrational at best.
