Interesting subject Sally. I changed my home page from CNNFN the other day when they inserted a link in what always used to be strictly a News Items window that put me into an 'infomercial' come-on for a new mortgage. What I really disklike about all these portals is their obvious bias to other businesses they are 'in cahoots' with. Now I know that is business as usual, but the promise of the net is to change that. I'm hoping Apple's approach is to focus on the intelligence and power the network can provide to the consumer, not the advertiser. I'd be quite happy to pay Apple a fee for such an effective software/portal. And I'll never stick with a portal that is fuzzing rather than sharpening my perspective. They talk about 'eyeballs', but I think they are missing (denying) that the intelligence behind the eyeballs is evolving as quickly as the net. You know, I have not watched network news since I got a cable modem?
