...this again all points to just how important these set top boxes will be. the technology now sucks to get to the internet. Ah, but set top boxes won't help with the problems you mentioned. Most of them will be using the same technology as the internet for their interactive features. You'll run into the same problems: If the host server is down, you won't get in. If an internet backbone is cut, you'll see a massive slowdown. There will be solutions to most of these problems eventually, but they won't come from the set top box itself.
