I thought Gerstner's comments were kind of cute.

It shows that IBM still maintains its arrogant focus.

It was not so long ago that another IBM CEO had similar words for a couple of upstarts in the burgeoning PC field. In fact IBM used to have a 1/3 stake in two particular companies.

Those two companies? MSFT and INTC of course. The rest is history

Quite frankly, LOU's words are probably bullish for companies like AOL, AMZN, EBAY, YHOO, CMGI et. al. If the past is prologue then IBM is going to take another A__ Whoopin in the next decade.

Not a sermon, Just a thought.

Let me guess... Gerstner slams SUN's customers (Amazon,Yahoo) as profitless punks and mentions his customer list (Walmart) as the real winners stepping up? Haven't checked this out (who's whose(sp?) customer) but I don't see Lou dissin' his own customers. Sounds like all-out war may be breaking out between the BIG BLUE and the DOT! (I'll never understand this 'dot' campaign - didn't McNealy's mother tell him to be careful what he wished for - does he want SUN to shine brightly or be a DOT on the horizon?? <g>) So much for the IBM/SUN Java love-in.
