Let me frame a rationale that is worth looking for. He can't run. Hilary may yet decide not to. Gore is unlikely to get enough backing to be illegal, since he is so poor a candidate. And his Presidency is widely regarded as sub-par. With nothing but retirement and ignominy, he may just pull together the best he has and come up with some good, redeeming parting gift for the country. It would be a shame for the country to have nothing but regrets. I do not say what or even if this will occur, but it would be a shame to shoot it down only because of the source. You know he has lived on the planet for 1/2 a century, has a loving, sometimes ;} , family, and risen high from nowhere. He has some good power somewhere, if he will put it to use.
