Eat some more of those sour grapes Harry.
How many puts do you own?

Or are you a disgruntled former employee.

Your waking this sleepy thread bull up and I love it.

IBM well off its lows.

Harry, what the .Com companies did well was to anticipate the paradigm shift to E@Commerce through the Internet. IMHO, those who remain quick on their feet will survive and they will continue to remain major IBM customers. What is also happening is those companies that have remained entrenched with a "bricks and mortar" business model (Wallmart, etc.) will now have to come to the Internet table to protect their space and they have a lot of catching up to do. But overall, what I see as key is the fact that E@Commerce takes anyone with a product to sell into the global market instantaneously without any bricks and mortar. I too was somewhat taken aback by the 20 billion number attributed directly or indirectly to the Internet but if you factor in not only E@Commerce but all of the other stuff such as Intranets, Internet sites for general communication, Email requirements, etc. it is a number that makes sense. As an example, IBM is relying on a web site to provide Y2K hardware readiness to customers, lessors, and other third parties who need to know the status of the equipment they own. In the past, this information would have to be compiled monthly and mailed out. Now it is updated immediately when a status changes even down to Engineering Change levels with virtually no redundant expense. There is going to be plenty of opportunity for everyone. This shift is just scratching the surface.
