John: In Reykjavik,are you ?

Yes I think Dell will hit $55.00 again this year barring any disasters. Remember the 'Paine in the Ass-et' guy didn't say Dell wasn't going to meet consensus, nor did he say anything specific except that he went from 'attractive' to 'neutral' based on valuation. I guess we will have to wait till Tuesday to see about that.

This is what I am thinking.

PS:
I don't think the number of outstanding shares of a company has the ability to impede a company's growth or earning prospects 'coz I think they are mutually exclusive phenomena. I am sure Paul or someone else would correct me I am wrong.Another thing, the company would not have planned for asking shareholder approval at the upcoming annulal meeting for additonal shares if they were doubtful about the company's prospects.

Stay warm and keep the faith and, oh yeah, don't forget to visit the hot-springs often.<g>

John,
Hi!!!

RE: Sorry for the rant, folks. I'm just blown away tonight.

Be patient....

BUY DELL here..that analyst...knows nothing what some on this thread know...and if he knew half he'd be upgrading..if he is fixing the stock for his friends...then he should go to jail...proving it is tough...but, the numbers on Tuesday...and the news I believe will be even more stunning...

Best, Kemble

john...never forget your own words of wisdom..."dell is a solid company"

take solace in this knowledge, and as long as the fundamentals exceed most businesses, than to hell with the analysts view....it may make you a bit uneasy short term, but at some point even the most incompetent of analysis can't pose an intellectually sound argument that would deride a company growing at a "mere 30%"....just look at ibm low double digit growth and how the market is rewarding same.

most on dell have accrued wealth, but dell never moved straight up like an i-net issue, it would trade in a channel for months and than make a major move...difference was even 2-3 years ago, the "bad news" of journalism ala cnbc was not as prevalent....worse day i remember for dell was 10/9/98..gapped down 22 points on open, maybe traded 100m shares...scary!...but it opened at 40.75...closed about 47...never looked back and eventually went to 110....

if it is any consolation i have added 10k shares dell since 2/17/99 on multiple purchases from 38-46, average about 41....foolish me, but i feel it is a bargain, once the perception changes...in addition i have sold puts that can assign me 8000 shares at 60 in jan 01 and 4000 shares at 55 in jan 01....so you can see what i believe in...assume a 15% move per annum...6 points this year, 7 points next year,,so 54 in 01...do you think it is possible?...remember john hausers statement in effect will dell be higher in one year?...keep the thought process simple, follow the fundamentals, stay off of deep margin and let's wait our turn....3% growth winners like mmm won't continue beyond the next quarter...imho...good luck, ed a.

Hi John. Iceland, COOL! (pun intended) John, I bought Dell in Nov 95 and it proceeded to drop 50% within the following 4 months. I hung on.

Dell is not the same company now as it was then (It's PE contracted to 7!) BUT, IT IS A BETTER COMPANY NOW!

Hang on.

At this point we're experiencing alot of market volatility.....BUT please put on your "ten year glasses".

LLLLOOOOONNNNGGGGG with you, I hope.
