Mark, I based my information that DLJ Direct would short BB's because Yamner says they can do it, and they both use Pershing to clear. That info comes from a trader for Yamner that posts on SI.

Also, a couple of posters have stated that they have shorted BBs through DLJ Direct. While I don't take their posts as gospel, I have a hard time seeing why they would lie.

If I do open a new account it will probably be with Yamner. I've heard too many folks complain about the poor customer service with DLJ Direct, and I already have plenty of that with Waterhouse.

DLJdirect and shorting...yes you can short BB's. I have had recent success shorting ECEC, NCDR, WOWS and SHAL. They also have good availability of other shorts, since they clear thru Pershing. The problem is that that are SLOW! If you are serious and don't mind calling in your trades, go with Yamner.
