Hello Rocky. I've decided to follow this thread after purchasing a 2 gig IOM Jaz drive about a month ago. It seems to be OK when it's used with the 1 gig disks. With the 2 gig disks, the machine likes to "talk" to me when it's running. It doesn't sound happy. The computer people are coming in next week to install more RAM, and another hard drive. I'm reluctant to go with Castlewood until I have a chance to review their track record. I would hate to lose data. So far, that hasn't happened with IOM - it may take forever to read, and in some cases lock the machine up, but I still haven't lost any data. FWIW, IMHO, there is a HUGE market out there for this product. I've noticed that Castlewood is privately traded. If somebody can get a handle on this technology, there's going to be some serious money made. Question for the thread: last Saturday, I went to Office Max and purchased two Jaz disks. The first one worked fine. The second one did not accurately tell me what was available on the disk. It seemed to read/write OK. What gives? Another question, does a scan always have to be done before reading data to the jaz disk? That "deep scan" or whatever, takes a while, and will sometimes lockup. Thanks for your time. Regards.

I will confirm the siting of the External Orb drive as well as disks at a retail CompUsa in Garden City , NY (Long Island). They were displayed behind the counter next to the Jaz Drive. The difference between $199 and $349 is here. However after spending about 45 minutes in the store I did witness many people looking at and purchasing the same $349 Jaz that was sitting next to the $199 Orb. Just my honest observations. BTW, I, bought a ten pack of Zip Disks for my office. Frank
