Tom, if gambling means a 400% return in last 6 months, and
700% return in last 12 months, I will take this gamble again
and anytime in my life.

You can short whatever you want here and I am just going to
hold my internet basket (EBAY, YHOO, ATHM, PCLN, AOL, GCTY, CMGI,
MMXI, TSCM) for another 2-3 years and see if this is a gamble
or investment. I don't feel gambling at all, as all these stocks
except YHOO AOL CMGI were bought at the IPO price.

BTW, when was the last time that shorting a stock becomes an
investment? It looks more like a gambling to me. Don't you
know that your loss is unlimited? Don't you know that people
went broke because they shorted AMZN? On the other hand, I
haven't seen anyone who hasn't at least doubled his money by
going long on internet stocks in the last 12 months.

Tom, for once allow me stand on the other side. I have no position in PCLN
.
Today, interestingly AMZN and PCLN both are at $132 and both market cap is around $20 billion.

Both company is a household name ranking #1 and #2 in retail ecommerce. The name, 'Priceline.com', alone should worth at least a few billion dollars.

I believe PCLN does subsidize in some ticket sales but we can consider this as a part of marketing cost. (Ofcourse PCLN can not do this forever but with these cheap price, PCLN is growing fast) The name of the game in ecommerce is to be the dominant force as quickly as possible.

I think almost ALL internuts are overpriced. But having said that, if AMZN has been tested for past few years and investors think it is worth 20 billion why PCLN should be any less? Both are losing money (I don't think neither will make any money in next 5 years) so why PCLN any worse than AMZN?

Regards,

Jon
