ot -- powershred - can't speak to suretrade. Am very happy with Schwab. I don't trade more than a few times a month, so low commissions aren't what I'm looking for. They have good access to research and the system seems reliable. They offer IPOs (which they won't allow me to access because of my line of work), and have special benefits in the "Signature Series" accounts -- accounts of higher dollar value or trading volume. Easy to reach by phone if I'm in a low tech mood and have a question for a carbon-based unit.

~ OT ~ <<can anyone recommend a good online broker? >>

powershred: In the last 18 months I have done ALL of my investing online. The two brokers I use are Schwab and Waterhouse. So far there have been no major problems. I chose to go with online brokers with excellent ratings, local offices, and 24 hour customer service.

Good luck with your decision.

Best Regards,

Scott
