Global Crossing is set to announce it is merging with U S West in a complex
stock swap valued at more than $37 billion, people familiar with the matter
say. The combination would create a telecommunications heavyweight, with a
market capitalization of at least $65 billion.

I think it is more likely that AOL's next major news will concern their broadband strategy, but IDTC tie-in might follow soon after.
