Atlantic ocean stays cold too long. Miserable to go swimming on Fourth of July with your teeth chattering. We drive down to Chincoteague or Virginia Beach because it gets a little warmer a little sooner. I mean, I know it's still Atlantic ocean, still too damn cold, but it's a little warmer a little sooner than Fenwick, Delaware.

We put up with the tackiness of Virginia Beach just to have our hotel room right on the water. Pay the outrageous extra rate to have our hotel room facing the water. Then open the doors to the balcony, sit out there and enjoy it, sunlight to moonlight. I love to wake up in the morning, and throw on my swimsuit and grab a big cup of coffee and a towel and stumble down to the waterside and sit at the water's edge and drink my morning coffee and watch the dolphins. You can do that at Virginia Beach, Ocean City, and Destin. It's worth the tackiness.
