Company Press Release

WaveRider and Voice Mobility Inc. Announce Voice Over Internet Joint
Development Agreement

TORONTO, ONTARIO--

Strategic partnership is the first step in dramatically expanding WaveRider's wireless infrastructure offerings

WaveRider Communications Inc. (OTC BB: WAVC, Frankfurt WVR.FSE), a leading global provider of wireless Internet products, has signed a Memorandum of
Agreement with Voice Mobility Inc., a unified messaging company, to launch a joint wireless Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) development initiative. Under the
terms of the agreement, the two companies will create a product that will enable real-time wireless voice, fax, video and data communications using the Internet. The
product is scheduled for commercial release by the end of next year.

VoIP manages the delivery of voice communications using the Internet, allowing users to place long distance calls without incurring traditional telephone toll charges.
Industry sources estimate the VoIP market will reach $200 billion by year 2005 and that up to 25 per cent of voice traffic will be on the Internet, making it one of
the most attractive and fastest growing market segments in telephony.

''This alliance significantly broadens our wireless Internet and LAN to LAN technology capabilities and will allow us to offer the first wireless VoIP-based wide
area network combining both Internet access and voice communications.'' said Charles Brown, WaveRider's VP Marketing. ''We see tremendous market
opportunity for this product and plan to become a very active player in this segment,'' he added.

Today, although technologies exist for VoIP, congestion often hinders real-time communications. To address this problem, the joint development team will refine a
wireless spread spectrum Internet protocol which reduces dependence on traditional hardwired telecommunications lines and relies on bandwidth for transmission of
voice, data, video or fax. By utilizing wireless bandwidth frequency, the developers can provide the speed and quality control required for real-time VoIP.

''By combining WaveRider's routing hardware and software with Voice Mobility's unified messaging and voice capabilities, we can offer attractive data and voice
communications solutions customers in countries that lack traditional wired telecommunications infrastructure,'' commented Jay Hutton, president of Voice Mobility,
in announcing the agreement. ''We believe that the ability to offer unified messaging services via the Internet will confer a distinct competitive advantage on our
group,'' he added.

Under the terms of the agreement, WaveRider and Voice Mobility will jointly define key customer partners and conduct market trials. WaveRider's ongoing VoIP
initiative includes evaluating current and emerging market opportunities through its membership in the VoIP Forum. WaveRider is currently developing routing
hardware and software which complies with IEEE802.3 Ethernet standards as well as Internet Protocol Version 4.0 specifications to promote the acceptance and
proliferation of all Internet applications.
