Speaking of "up in the air suits", I sat next to an attorney for FDIC on a plane yesterday. He speculated as to what it would mean if a bank's computers crashed because of Y2K. He said that, in general, for FDIC purposes, if the institution can't say what its assets are worth according to the required standards, the FDIC says it is worth zero, and must be shut down.
