To ALL: I WARNED ALL OF YOU ABOUT DELL!!!
My posts during the past few days have warned
this entire thread to get out BEFORE EARNINGS!!!
DELL can't even beat the PUNY .16 it was expected
to post. UNBELIEVABLE!! It's a sad, sad statement
in light of the HWP news yesterday. The DELL
masses laughed and scoffed and made fun of my
posts. 141 and change in after hours....WHO'S
LAUGHING NOW???

I can't understand the doom and gloom over Dell's earnings. Stock may well be down tomorrow based on the analysts' spin, but let us look at some facts objectively:

1. CSCO's PE is much higher than DELL, they beat est. by 1 cent on rev growth of about 40% (EPS growth < 30%), and everybody said how stellar the performance was. Dell's in a much more competitive business, and IMO has posted better nos. than CSCO all around.

2. HWP posts rev inc. of 3%, and promises rev growth 6 to 9 months down the line - and analysts' hype jack up the price 25% in about 2 weeks.

3. AMAT supposedly has a blow out quarter (yet on a year over year basis) both revenues and earnings are flat to down. Stock trades near 52 week high, and most likely will go up.

In case of HP and Applied, the optimism is based on orders that may or may not materialize into sales, but the Street is willing to ignore that risk. Dell on the other hand, is about $25 B in sales and continues to grow faster than any company of that size. If the analysts paint this qtr's report in a negative light (and it appears that more than one have already made up their mind), I am more than willing and able to buy the shares in the 30s. With the interest rate jitters and options expiration coming up, I think we will be getting a good buying opportunity in quality firms this week.

Regards

Alok
