Maybe that's the best strategy. The US and Britain come out looking strong but unable to control weak sisters, Nato looks divided, which it is, we save our money by stopping this bombing and bring our boys home, and the Balkans go back to being what they have been for the past 1,000 years and will be for the next 1,000 -- a hotbed of ethnic conflict with occasional brief pauses.

Pushing a ground invasion (I am NOT using the word "war") at this point will only spread the conflict to the rest of the Balkans, from the Adriatic to the Black Sea.

Yes - but so you think it's possible? It seems that post-Vietnam we're into an era of war with no/minimum casualties. In Yugoslavia - because of these constraints we are destroying the country's infrastructure - which IMO is a war against humanity (bridges for example are called 'military targets')- a cowardly war brought on by our own cowardice. A sorry and sick chapter in our history. d
