"referred to as a holograph"

A "holograph" is a document written entirely by the signer. The principal "signer" of the D of Independence was John Hancock who didn't write the copy (not enough room on the parchment). The Declaration of Independence is (perhaps) what is known as a "clear copy" usually prepared by a professional clerk or scrivener.

Just thought you'd like to know: Pearls do not melt in vinegar or wine. Unless it is an issue of leaving them there for months?

But opals are relative fragile and break because they have a very high water content, a jeweler once told me.
