My brother, the Cobol programmer, says there is no more code for him to upgrade in the Chicago area. He says they will have to freeze him and bring him back for the y10k problem.

Yeah, I hear the problem is embedded chips. Given the general tendency of machines in general to fug up when it will cause the most damage, it surprises me that none of them are blowing now, only 6 1/2 months before 00 turns over on the odometer. What, they all keep perfect time?
