Serb, Albanian armies clash near border town << GOLAJ, Albania -- A contingent of Albanian tanks has traded fire with Yugoslav forces in the first engagement between the two countries' armies in the eight-week Balkan conflict. The fierce exchange on the flashpoint Albanian border is the type of action NATO fears could trigger an escalation of the war outside Kosovo's borders and into its refugee-packed neighbouring states. Although unconfirmed by western monitors in the region, villagers in Albania's northern Golaj district report that a force of nine Albanian tanks fired on Yugoslav forces Monday evening after a Serb border incursion that afternoon.
