OK, just got back from a brief tour through internet sources, I see that the activity at the auction I described was what is called bid-rigging, and it is per se illegal, so let me say I never did it and I never would do it.

But I don't understand the economic justification for the law. In fact, I don't understand the economic justification for antitrust law, at all. And in this I think I am not alone, Judges Posner and Easterbrook come to mind. Did I mention that I have, from time to time, been a member of the Federalist Society?
