Why ask why?

And your latin teacher did a good job. (A lot better job than MY latin teacher did!)

A vexillologist is one who studies flags and their protocols. And it's in the news because Queen Elizabeth is refusing to fly the flag of the Prince of Wales along with her flag when she goes to open the new Welsh governing body, and her flag has symbols of England, Scotland, and Ireland, but NOT Wales. So some Welsh have their noses bent out of shape.

Which, of course, is the way they have been since 1066 or so, but who's counting!
