How long do they live in the wild? Is 6 years the human equivalent of say 12. Whatever it is , the whole thing is disgusting. I say they are ignorant savages. What will they do withe carcase. Get the local environmentalists to tow it out to sea or will they do it themselves?

I like the irony of the Makahs receiving death threats from people who believe that whales are too noble to be killed. It continues to astound me that there are people who, apparently completely ignorant of the inherent contradiction, can use violence as a prod to try to get someone else to walk the road that leads to their state of enlightenment. I guess enlightenment is too easy to gain, or at least too easy to claim. It's getting to be a bad neighborhood.

I think the slogan of the moment should be "Hate those who practice hate." Or maybe "Whales are cuter than your pathetic attempt to regain your lost heritage."
