Hi John, good to see stock improve today and stay there. I would love to hear why FMR sold, but they would never tell the truth anyway. I just hope the funds involved get hurt themselves.

I agree with you John. ASPT needs to sharpen its marketing skills in this new phase:

ASPT's culture legacy from previous phase
--------------------------------------------------

ASPT was/is a "Direct sales" culture. Which was the correct approach for the previous phase:

1) Few large accounts
2) ASPT knew who and where those accounts were.
3) Big ticket, non-consumer products. Those wanting call centers, knew where to look for them.
Therefore marketing was not critical for ASPT's success in this earlier phase

ASPT's new CRM Enterprise software phase
-------------------------------------------------

Marketing becomes a critical function for 3 reasons:

-Need to dissociate from its previous hardware image.

-Need to communicate the benefits of its products to all the executives --of all medium to large size companies in the world-- of how important it is to develop long lasting relationships with their customers. ASPT is now targeting a new emerging market where any medium sized company in the world is a potential customer.

-Increased brand awareness is key and has multiple benefits: facilitates the sales process to new accounts, reinforces existing customers, makes new investors aware of the company, giving, a higher valuation to the company.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I would propose Jim Carreker to carry out the following simple marketing test: Expose the company in four consecutive issues of Fortune magazine, in 2 full color pages with an advertisement the conveys the following message:

1) To enhance, develop and manage customer relationships should be at the top of the agenda for any executive.
2) New enterprise CRM software combined with multimedia communications allows to achieve 1) at low cost
3) ASPT has 2) "now" and is the best co. to deploy such solutions. Just contact us!

This simple action apart from achieving our above main objectives should have the following 2 positive side effects:

a) Give a signal to the market that the rejuvenated ASPT is now ready and serious about its new business, this should also help Erik Keller to get on with his new task of creating new relationships.
b) Would give a positive signal to the street, new and existing investors. After all, it is extremely important for ASPT to get to previous $30 valuations: to retain key employees (old and new), to use a higher valuation stock to purchase new technologies and/or redeem the convertible bonds, etc., etc.

NB: I have nothing to do with Fortune at all, I just think that it is a good medium to expose Enterprise CRM solutions to decision-making executives world-wide.

Overall I am happy about yesterday's session, I got in @ 7 in March, but expect much more, so I am very long.
