Kash, that's a nice price ($995) for an upcoming K6-III 500 MHz computer, assuming AMD is even close to introducing one. But the components aren't all that great. Only 512K of L3 cache? Voodoo Banshee? 64 MB of memory? Yamaha no-name sound card? Come on. If the K6-III is supposed to take on the Pentium III, it really ought to be featured with components that are worthy to be featured on Pentium III systems, not components that you normally find on el cheapo K6-2 systems. That's one of the secrets to the Pentium III's success, not that the Pentium III is the sole selling point, but that systems which feature the Pentium III also get the best components available, like the Riva TNT (or upcoming Voodoo3 and TNT2), sound card that supports 3D positional audio, etc. I hate to say it, but MHz sells (tm McMannis) is starting to fade away. Perhaps things will change and we'll see the K7 featured with top-notch components. AMD would be crazy not to do just that, unless they feel like serving McDonald's fries with their porterhouse steak. Tenchusatsu
