Don,

I suspect your reasons for the good retention rate are true.

But short of designing top end microprocessors, I can't think of an electrical engineering pursuit that would be more challenging. They have successfully pushed the limits of architecture and performance in ways I bet they never dreamed possible. They will have a major impact on the technology. That has to be very fulfilling.
