Software makers rise on SAP upgrade

Lehman Brothers analyst Brian Skiba upgraded SAP to "buy" from "neutral," partly on estimates for growth in the so-called enterprise resource planning market, which is expected to reach $27.7 billion in 2000, from $20.2 billion this year. Investors have punished many software makers on concern that their large corporate customers could delay purchases while fixing Year 2000 computer glitches.
