Derek--- I found the smartest girl with a good personality that I could, and I married her. Nice looking, too...Why do they come to the United States to work in sweatshops or do stoop labor? Because compared to Mexico or Shanghai, they are making serious money...The worst thing about the post- colonial experience was the haste with which the Great Powers cut and ran. Millions died in the population transfers and inter-communal strife that followed Indian independence. There was no orderly transition, or assurance that the native elites would rule according to the idea of responsible government. Thus, we got a bunch of French speaking dictators, educated at the Sorbonne, who happened to be dark complected. Big improvement...
