Apparently you think shorting stocks is something only Atilla the Hun and Bill F. would do. For your information, shorters are making a killing in this market, and the short side of investing is important and useful in an open market system. Now I'm getting concerned. Do you have a private agenda here? Are you the wild- eyed mid 30's net junkie. Or the teletubby? Get off it Jon- your naivety is showing!

Humbly report, jon, been humbly thinking about Bill, and been reading all his articles, and been changing my mind.

Here is his bio:

William A. Fleckenstein - Director - Specialty: Investment Management. Founding member (since 1982) and General Partner of Fleckenstein Capital, a prominent Seattle-based investment advisory firm; Principle in prominent investment firms including Olympic Capital Management and Olympic Fund Management; 3 years with Burroughs Corporation developing mainframe software and performing systems engineering. Education: B.Sc. in Mathematics, University of Washington, 1976.

My first impressions of Bill here were pretty much like yours. You may remember that I welcomed his participation on this thread with that K-Mart.wav, in other words, as they say, seemed to me he entered the room like an elephant enters a china shop. Manners, shmanners.

Anyway, as I said at the beginning, been reading, and humbly thinking, and been changing my mind. Bill is no doubt a bear. Some would even call him a pessimist. But Twain says "the man who isn't a pessimist is a damned fool," so that point of view has a place. So I for one am willing to think about a now/1929 comparison scenario, or whatever. Why not? All points of view, well thought out, need to be taken into consideration, no? The board needs balance.

Regarding Bill's take on overvalued net stocks, and being on the board of Go2Net, I don't see a problem. I also think a lot of net stocks are overvalued, and if I were so inclined, might even short them. Tons of overvalued garbage out there. Just so happens GNET is not one of them, in my humble opinion, yours, and Bills. Says a lot, don't you think? If I were an analyst, and knew Bill is a conservative in general and regarding nets in particular, I'd wonder why he likes GNET - might be a plus for us, no?

Many ways to look at it all, but the bottom line as far as I'm concerned is that Russell has my complete humble confidence - not a single reason yet for it to be otherwise - and if he likes Bill, heck, fine by me.

So, that's my humble take as of right now. Back to reading Bill's articles. ;-)

Cheers,

Svejk
