Chris,

I would love to hear how you would carry out your agenda in the face of authoritarians and despots.

What you are proposing is tantamount to telling a citizen or police officer that they can't take measures to prevent a crime from occurring.

Let's say I come across a neighbor who is beating his wife mercilessly and threatening her with a firearm (shots have even been fired). Is the police officer (or myself as a legally "packing" citizen), justified in using deadly force in these circumstances??

Should I just ignore the entire situation and consider it an "internal" family problem?? How about the police officer?? Should he obey your interpretation of the "law" as well and leave well enough alone?

How does a lawyer handle such an situation, Chris? And how will you apply those steps to the broader overlay of international law, where there is no declared enforcement agency, but only individually armed "private citizens (nations).

Regards,

Ron

<< I have given citations to both the Nato Treaty and the UN Charter which show the action to be illegal. >>

You are somewhat correct. But, there is International debate going on about the legality of NATO's attempt to save the Kosovo Albanians from Genocide. We may not know the outcome of this debate until after NATO saves the Kosovo people. Can NATO be found guilty of violating International Law without due process? I don't think so. But, you can charge NATO with violating International Law, if you so chose.

The current debate centers around the emerging "International Humanitarian Law" which protects individuals from genocidal attacks, torture and other inhuman human rights abuse.

It is somewhat equal in principle to England's common law.

So, as the legal debate drones on, you would prefer that NATO pull out and let the genocide continue. I mean, what is a few hundred thousand of innocent families worth, compared to your sense of crossing the t's and dotting the i's.

<< The US should not kill innocent people in the name of trying to save innocent people. >>

I guess this means that you were against our involvement in World War II and Dessert Storm. Friendly fire and innocent civilian causualities result in any war. Do you thusly believe that the US should not be prepared to defend itself from hostile attack because the US might cause civilian causualities in defending itself?

<< There is NO doubt in ANY reasonable person's mind that we have made the situation many times worse by the bombing. >>

Slob and Dog Face Milosevic had persecuted the Kosovo Albanians for about 10 years. They were getting ready to commit Genocide, aka Ethnic Cleansing" upon the Kosovos just as they had ruthlessly committed in Bosnia. No doubt?

Without NATO's humanitarian mission providing food, water and shelter to hundreds of thousands of Kosovo Albanians, things would be a lot worse. Has the bombing made things worse? Perhaps, shortsightedly, it has, but in the long run, NATO's bombing of the cruel, inhuman Serb war machine will create a Greater Albania and a much weakened Serb killing machine. So, in the long run, the Balkans will reap the rewards of NATO bombing for decades to come.

<< That is my agenda. Very simple. Very straightforward. Very honest. Very honorable. And very much committed to solving a problem instead of showing what a big bully the US can be. >>

Garbage! Your way would have caused many more civilian victims and hardships. You would pull out and let Slob and Dog Face ethnically cleanse a defenseless Kosovo. You wouldn't want the world to go to the rescue of the Kosovo Albanians or any other people. Honorable? What a joke!

<< I realize it doesn't fit with your agenda, which is simply KILL, KILL, KILL until there are no Yugoslavs left. >>

All Slob and Dog Face have to do is stop causing the killing, raping, looting and eviction of the innocent Kosovo Albanians, and peace would be at hand. Simple solution, right?
