Hi,
Using AIM I don't have problems like that. AIM generally keeps you within a 20% range which is acceptable to Waterhouse and most other brokers.
My guess is that a 40% range would create too many unexecuted orders and be a book-keeping nightmare.

Waterhouse will not accept limit orders that are more than 20% higher or lower than the current market price. You have to keep track of this yourself and place the order when the market is within their parameters.
