BGR, Do you try to upset people with your posts? I think many people find your posts to be interesting to read in terms of content. Agreeing or disagreeing with the ideas you represent is not a big deal to most. Informed debate is what SI is all about. I have never found your intelligence to be lacking. I don't agree with all of your conclusions, but as I say that's perfectly fine. It seems though that you use your posts to poke at folks, challenge them very aggressively...like you are always in someone's face. That's what I, and I believe others, object to. If we, as a posting community, could climb out of each other's faces, the SI experience would be a richer one.
