Gastón , what is your fundamental view of sch? In short... Schwab is just about the only discount broker with the infrastructure to go global... it has enough brick and mortar assets to fully take advantage of a possible elimination of the Glass/Steagal Act under which brokers and bankers could enter each other's business. For practical purposes Schwab is a near bank already, (they have a new account called Schwab ACCESS that operates as such, and in addition it gives you the ability to pay electronically, different vendors etc. AND... transfer funds between different institutions. They have a Global Investing Department that they are trying to make a "seamless operation" in order to invest in all markets from a single point (i.e. their web site), and from any where in the world. They have invested aggressively in technology that makes their web site one of the best (if not the best). In essence, Schwab is working towards giving the individual investor the tool that will allow any individual to invest globally, move assets anywhere, as if you were a major institutional investor moving assets at the touch of a computer key. Their individual account growth is impressive. The recent downturn (from 155 to about 103), has been healthy for its chart (opinion not based on P&F), and allowing to base for a further upwards push (as recently shown. They split in December (3 x 2 I think) and they will split on 7-1-99 (2 x 1) I do not believe that a split adds to the value of the stock, however, I do not deny that such splits adds volatility, and usually upwards pressure to a stock... and i do not argue with Mr. Market. The premiums on the Call options are heavenly... and there is more.... There has been some changes since this... (mostly for the better)....Message 9666624 Message 9565177 Message 9582207 Message 9561203 Message 9462439 Message 9461824 Message 9214020 Message 9212173 Message 9207084 Message 8732292 Message 8824567 techstocks.com
