Mike: Re: " In 1993, 1995 and 1997 AMAT's stock dropped right after earnings release in May and stayed relatively weak through the middle of June."

No, I think this is incorrect. In 1993 and 1995 the stock gapped up after earnings and subsequently corrected from higher levels but never retested the pre earnings price. In 1997, AMAT continued to climb days after earnings and later retested the pre earnings stock price in June BUT this was due to INTC's preannounce and Segate's preannounce at the end of May and a Brown Brother Harriman downgrade of the sector ON THE DAY OF THE JUNE LOW. This year is different because it represents the only time when compared to these years that the stock corrected immediately after earnings. AMAT hit its high at the open the day after earnings and immediately corrected about 11%. Remember how active those 60 calls were at the beginning of the month? Funny how she closed close to the $60 strike price on Friday.

Re: "The dips range from 5-10%."

You could make this observation in any trading week for AMAT.
