Tony, the Globe article did not suggest any link between the decision not to go to HWP, and the change in the HWP and EMC relationship. In fact, there was no indication as to the timing of the HWP interest, or any indications as to whether there were any serious discussions.

While I am very impressed by EMC, I am waiting to see what they are going to do in the fibre channel area, and who they will team up with. Storage area networks are just beginning to penetrate the marketplace, and Hitachi Data Systems has made huge commitment in this area. While EMC has steadily been increasing its sales of fibre channel ready storage, it remains to be seen how much of this market it will achieve. While I won't bet against EMC permitting anyone to take market share, IBM, Sun HDS and others are charging ahead.

Have you learned anything significant about EMC's fibre channel plans?
