The Greatest Television Value In The Universe.

So it says. I just received a mailer from Tele-TV. Formerly known as Pacific Bell Digital TV, brings you up to 160 channels of pure digital television-with far better pictures and sound than you're used to. Built, Tested and Launched By Pacific Bell.

The mailer incorrectly list their website as www.teletv.com. After I found the correct address tele-tv.com headed for the technical area. This is what I found...

Q. How does the signal get to my house?

A. The signal is sent over the air from two different transmitters that are located on high mountain tops. The signal is picked up by the roof-top antenna that is installed on your roof. This antenna is connected by coaxial cable which runs into the digital set top box inside the home.

Q. What is a digital picture?

A. Electronically coded signal that digitizes video and audio.

Q. How is having a digital picture going to enhance my television?

A. Digital provides a clearer picture than analog. Digital transmission also faciliatates CD quality sound.

Q. Do I need any special equipment to receive Tele-TV service?

A. To receive the signal our technicians must mount an antenna on your roof. You'll also need our digital set top box which will decode and decompress the digital signal so your television can receive the service. A Tele-TV technician will also need to connect a phone line to the set top box so that Galaxy movies and events can be ordered through the remote control.

Q. How big is the antenna and where will it be located on my house?

A. The roof-top antennas vary in size. The largest antenna we use is 24" and use of the larger antenna is dependent upon the signal strength at your location. A Tele-TV technician will work with you to determine where the antenna can be installed so that it is in an aesthetically pleasing place, but still receive a strong signal to ensure quality service.

Q. My homeowner's association will not allow antennas. Can they enforce these rules?

A. An FCC ruling prohibits homeowner associations and local governments from restricting the installation and use of antennas or satellite dishes one meter or smaller in size. The Tele-TV antenna is below the one-meter requirement. Click here for more information.

Q. What is a set top box and how big is it?

A. The set top box is about the size of a VCR and it decodes and decompresses the digital signal so you can enjoy Tele-TV's service.

So were is the Tele in TeleTV ? Coming soon !
