Info..thanks. That is what I wanted to hear :) so like for instance on HAUP last friday or HTLH last week....shorting is alowed??
right now I am just trading bb's...but I am paper trading NASDAQ for 1/4 pt and shorting etc. My datek accoutn will be set up this week I think. I also applied to AB wately. One other question I have....how much money do you need in the DATEK account in order to margin??? and how muich do the margin?? ie. 5K = 10K margined??

or 5K = 7.5K margined>?>?

or do you need 10K to start with..
10=20K
or 10 = 15K

I agree with IS.com's comments, but here are some additional comments...

- CMGI *is* currently shortable.

- To get a list of shortable stocks, log in to the main Datek server and select Quotes & Trades. The enter one or more symbols (separated by commas) in the "Stock Symbols" text box and click "Get Quote". Besides the quote, you will get the letters "NM" or "NS" come up.

- Frankly, I think this business of having to re-check the shortability status is silly. Other brokerages e-mail out a list of stocks that are not shortable or marginable each morning. That way, you don't have to chase after the damn status each morning. For instance, the last time IS.com looked at the list, CMGI was probably on the list. Now it's not.
