"Is this metaphor or metonymy?" ... Actually, it's mostly a cappella around here, although some clap, and the odd person seems to keep the beat by tapping their feet.

Simile and the whole world similes with you, flounce and you flaunt a load.

Wigglesworth -
This thread was never intended as a venue for being mean and nasty. I realize I invited you here - and for that I now feel much shame. You have behaved toward my good friends jbe and Steve Rogers in an incomprehensibly and (more to the point) intolerably rude and insulting manner. Stop this at once. I hereby unconditionally and permanently retract my welcome and I wish I had never extended it.

Jbe, Steve, I'm sorry for setting up this mess. I'll try to do better in the future.

It's actually a quote, Kurt Vonnegut, Happy Birthday, Wanda June, slightly adapted. Quite a good play. I suppose that expecting you to recognize it was unrealistic.

<edit>

Your comment about the Philippines - and, for that matter - Thailand - demonstrates that you are as ignorant as you are obnoxious. Shall we assume that anyone who resides in New York City sidles around Times Square in a trench coat, a tube of KY Jelly hanging out of his back pocket?

In the Subic area, at least, the commecial sex industry has been dead since the US Navy had the courtesy to depart. An enormous improvement, on both counts.

This I-write-better-that-you-do nonsense gets tiresome. Would you care to select a dozen posts of yours, put them up against a dozen of mine, and allow a literate jury to vote on the question?
