When someone takes the time to post good information about a matter of financial interest only to have their spelling corrected by another.....and then you see that first person get annoyed by what they feel is a one-upman and a public putdown, and stop writing for the thread....this is the detrimental result of a spelling correction on a forum about stocks. So, what's the point? IMHO, a PM is the polite way to point out a spelling error if at all; because a public message on the thread chances that the poster will take offense. Some people don't take kindly to being corrected. Etiquette is the attempt not to give offense to others. Risking raising someone's ire by pointing out their grammatical or spelling error in public and thereby interrupting the flow of the discourse, whether on an internet forum or in a conversation...isn't polite.
There are many people who have much of value to say about a subject dear to our wallets - but who can't write or spell with flair.
I see no reason to discourage them from posting, by making them self-conscious about their writing. The quality of spelling and grammar has nothing to do with the information which is shared for the benefit of all, on investors forums.
Best to all,
Joana

Well then, be a big boy and quit. Simple enough.
