Maybe! But that also means that Intel is headed there before AMD cause they demo'd one well before AMD did.

I would guess not, or, at least not as soon as you might hope. Remember the K-7 is the first of a new, to AMD, generation of "short tick" processors; which are designed more fundamentally for higher ultimate frequencies and may benefit to a greater extent than earlier designs from extraordinary cooling measures. I do, however, expect a Gigaherz K-7 in due course and without any extraordinary cooling measures.
