I wasn't speaking of all our military....was talking about ground troops, going on what I've heard from Reserve personnel. And why does Rush keep coming up? I don't listen to his show, and wouldn't know what he's been saying about the military.

Re : How many ... nuclear subs ? I have a book to recommend :

Nuclear Weapons of the United States by James N. Gibson ($49.95)

ISBN # 0-7643-0063-6

(Guess where the book was printed -- China !)

Believe it or not, this is actually a "coffee table" type book -- nice hardcover, good paper, great illustrations.

I am no fan of war or nuclear weapons, but this book is fascinating.

(It has things like (for example) on the B-52 pages -- a description of each and every accident with a B-52 carrying a nuclear weapon. What happened, did the bomb remain intact, was the bomb ever recovered, etc.)
