Well, the brokerage check has cleared, so I have enough cashier's checks to pay the deposit if we are the successful bidders. I went by the house, knocked on the door, the tenant answered, I was asking him about the condition of the house, and verifying that he was planning on moving out first week in June.

He acted surprised, said the listing agent told him that the listing agent had put in the paperwork to buy the house, and that the listing agent told him he had 60 days to move out.

I double-checked with the foreclosure attorney, the foreclosure sale is going forward. I double-checked with a couple of lawyers I know who handle foreclosures, they said all I can do is show up with the money and see what happens. If the listing agent has an executory contract, or even a deed, that won't stop the sale, although because it is a federally-insured loan, he has the right to bring it current if he did buy it, so that could stop the sale. If he did buy it, I'll bet it was for less than the $240K we were offering.

As for the tenant not planning on moving out, that's one more lie the listing agent told us. What a scumbag!

I am just going to have to roll with it. I'll post directly to you so you won't have to wade through a lot of stuff.

Nothing happened. Nobody showed up to sell the house, and finally, all the prospective bidders drifted off. We gave up at 4:25, I called the trustee, they said it had been called off but they said they couldn't tell me why.

I was wearing my lavender blue Empire-bodice dress, speaking of coincidences. At least the weather was beautiful, it has been raining a lot the past couple of days, and everything is green, we sat at a picnic table and there was a canopy of green overhead, rustling in the wind. The air was fresh and cool.

Anyway, that's that. We'll keep looking, eventually something will turn up.
