Big Ooops:

Y2K Test Knocks Out Fiji's Telecommunications

SUVA, FIJI, 1999 MAY 24 (NB)
By Adam Creed, Newsbytes.

All telecommunications services within the Pacific nation of Fiji
were out of service for a number hours on Monday following a Y2K
systems test by the nation's carrier. The telephone service outage
was
at first thought to be the work of saboteurs in the aftermath of
the
turbulent Fiji election, according to the Australian Broadcasting
Corporation.

However, the cause was later found to be a Y2K preparedness test
by
national telecommunications provider Telecom Fiji Ltd. The test
managed to crash the whole system.

Telecom Fiji's Web site, tfl.com.fj , now contains a
dead
link to its Year 2000 information page. (Ooops again?)
